After being very disappointed today with having to call the race, we did quite a bit of research on the internet looking for a solution to help with the weeping issue on the track. We did find a product that we think will help and have ordered it to apply to the cracks and other areas of the surface. There is nothing more frustrating than to have reasonably decent weather and still not be able to race. We will make every effort to enhance the surface of the track so hopefully we can avoid this type of situation in the future. Thank you to all the fans and racers for your support! ... Chris StancilFirst....Seal the top of the track outside of the wall to keep the water from coming in and running under the track. Then use a pavement sealer for the cracks on the track or repave the corners or ur going to have this problem all season. Unfortunately we have to call off tonight’s race due to excessive rain over the last several days and pending rain later tonight. It is also currently raining at the track this morning. We would need a bunch of sun today to dry things out and it’s just not going to happen. We will assign a make-up day for this race within the next several weeks. Our next scheduled race will be Friday May 1st. This is disappointing for all of us. (2 photos) ... See MoreSee Less

A message from Mike: Happy Easter to all the WCS Fans, Competitors, Sponsors, and Staff! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful day with your families! I personally wanted all of you to know how much I appreciate the support that has been shown to my wife Kristie and me since we decided to carry on the legacy of the Wake County Speedway. So many people have offered us their support and without a doubt the speedway has an amazing group of people that love it and love being a part of it.

I want to especially recognize Charlie Hansen. Back in December, Charlie was the one who came to me with the idea of taking over the speedway. After telling him no the first couple of times, he never gave up and finally convinced me to come on board. Since that time, Charlie has not rested. He has been at the speedway virtually every day since I said yes, and without him this speedway most likely would not be running this year. He is a huge asset to WCS and I am very thankful for his contribution to the speedway and for the friendship we have built. If you want to thank someone for the speedway being open this year he is definitely the one to thank!

In addition to Charlie, there are so many others that just show up when we’re out at the speedway and pitch in to do whatever is needed. You folks know who you are, and again, thank you for the support you so unselfishly give to help the Wake County Speedway. It truly means a lot to me and is very much appreciated!

To the WCS Race Night Staff; it takes a bunch of great people to make events at the speedway happen and although I just met some of you for the first time, I can tell you have a special place in your hearts for WCS and it shows in the way you perform your duties at the track. I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you better as the year progresses. Thank you for all your efforts!

One word describes the Fans and Competitors at WCS and that word is DEDICATION! Without you folks we have nothing. You are everything. The support shown to the speedway over the years by the fans and competitors is without a doubt the speedways biggest asset. We all know the speedway is special and the support shown by you guys is what the track is really all about. Thank you very much!

Finally, I want to thank all my friends and family for the kind words and support shown for us on this new venture. It truly means the world to Kristie and me and is very much appreciated.

Enjoy the rest of this beautiful day and we hope to see all of you again on Friday April 17th.

Sincerely,
Mike Stodder

Loretta ElayebYou did a fantastic job on the racetrack. I am kin to the Simpkins by my sister being married to Curtis Simpkins. I use to work in the top consession stand and watched my sister Leslie work her butt off on Friday nights to please all the fantastic fans of WCS . My oldest son Kyle also worked there on Friday. We have experienced the hard work you have to put in to make it a success. You are doing an absolutely fantastic job and it really looks great out there. I hope we can come some more because the racing is great. Thank you for keeping it open for my family to enjoy.1 month ago   ·  3

Thank you to all of the fans, drivers, car owners, sponsors and staff for a great night of racing. We appreciate each and every one of you. Although it was a great night, we as a track know there are many areas in need of improvements. We apologize for the problems with our ticketing system. We will strive to make it more efficient in the future. Not that there is an excuse, I had a hundred things going on and I forgot to put up the American Flag. That will not happen again. I have also been made aware of several other issues to make the fan experience better!
As for the drivers, we will improve our system in the tech and pit area. The tire situation and system will be improved before the next race. Again, there are many areas that have room for improvements. We will get better each week. Please keep in mind that this was our first event as a new team.

Thanks again for supporting Wake County Speedway!

Sue Kennedy GreeneCharlie our family have always liked the way you get things done we can see there had been a lot of work done at the speedway. I know WCS need car counts but without fans there would not be much racing. We have to help support each other. I just think what the announcer stated last night if you don't like the calls then leave not very professional. Keep up your great work with Mike and his family.1 month ago   ·  3

Stanley John Amditis'Tell you what'...great opening night Charlie, my son and I really enjoyed it and stayed for the entire event...right to the last lapof the exciting bomber finale! The one big thing you might consider for next year is to put step between each of the GIANT bleacher steps (where the yellow paint is). I saw many people really struggling going up and down (especially down). There were more than a few close calls and I'd hate to see a tragedy end such a great fun family event.1 month ago
