It's that time of year when we start planning for the next season, in this case 2018. We'd love to hear any input that you think would help continue to grow car counts and fan counts at the speedway. Please be constructive with any criticism you'd like to give. We know we are not perfect, but we are dedicated to continuing the enhancement of our racing program for the teams, fans, and sponsors. Alright.... 3, 2, 1 GO! ... See MoreSee Less
Some kind of upgrade to the upper pit would be nice. More room or a layer of asphalt to smooth things up. Also, different lighting on the flagman. He gets hard to see at times. Almost turning into a silhouette.
Bandoleros should be adjusted to promote safer driving. 90 percent of the time they wreck before the first lap is completed. It's fun to watch a good crash, but 10 in a race is time consuming and potentially dangerous. We should continue to support early adoption into the sport, but find a way to keep the race going without stopping for lengthy clean up every other lap. Suggestions being single file start? After 3 or 4 wrecks depending on severity of clean up, its green white checker. I'm sure after a few short races they will be more mindful in order to turn more laps.
I too think you guys are doing a great job! I hate to be critical at all.... but I will be. 🙂 Caution laps are killing us [the group I go with]. I know you need to clear the track, make it safe and all that but man! Round and round and round! We're dying out here! Also, it seems like there is a lot of fooling around early in the evening and then everything gets real compressed by the end. Can't you push a little more to keep things moving according to schedule? Maybe a little optimistic about what you can cram into a Friday night? I like the laid-back atmosphere but it does catch up with you by the end of the night and you end up shortening things too much because of it. The cautions cause a lot of that which can't be helped but there is a great deal of just fooling around that contributes (in my opinion). Again, sorry to be critical as you guys really do a great job!
Add an oval race series for first generation Spec Miatas. Hold it and they will come.
Find a new VP of operations! 😂
I think you guys are doing a great job and need to maintain the momentum you created in the season finale. The atmosphere was electric. The only suggestions I'd have are to do away with the UCAR class all together (fold it into the mini stock class, using a rulebook that is fair to the rwd cars but allows the fwd to compete). Continue to reward your 8-9 loyal late model racers who are there every week ... and maybe offer a bonus to anyone who can outrun the track regulars. Also... bring in the CARS lmsc for a Saturday night show. Oh... and the enduro/boat thing was the most entertained I've been at the race track in a while! Just keep doing what you are doing!
Host a big lap money race for the legends..I know myself and the li guys would come down again ..loved the track and the people..had a blast even in the rain!!!
I would love to see a charger rules class and a super late model race.
Try to bring some big tour events like PASS, CARS, Southern modified tour, etc.
As a fan i really enjoy my Friday nights at WCS. It would be great to have a longer season, also be cool to see more enduro races the fans seem to really enjoy the excitement. I enjoyed the drifting show too it had me on the edge of my seat!
Free tickets if you visit from Texas 😊
Cheaper admission prices! It makes it hard to make it a weekly Friday night event with a larger family.
Put "No Sitting" decals on the edge of the large grandstand steps. It's hard for us older people to get down the stairs without the railing. Also, bring in a guest Race Director in once in a while, say someone from Germany. 😉
To be honest i moved to raleigh from Charlotte 6 years ago and just found out that yall even had a track here. What you need is some advertising. Get those stands filled up to max then offer more prize money as a result of that.
10 races is not enough. I would like to see 12-14 on the schedule with every driver able to throw out their worst finish or DNS.
Try and coordinate with the other Friday night tracks to not step all over each other. I know several drivers from Richmond that would come down to Raleigh and race if your races weren't scheduled over top of Southside Speedway Races.
Take 2 months off during mid summer and just start a month early and end a month later. At the same time, make a best average finish award for halfway thru season. Or any other special award.
Well we plan on racing more at Wake next year, which is over 2 hrs away, instead of the track 10 minutes from our house.... Just sayin'.
Enduros on the semi regular (!!!!), bathrooms restored by the family grandstand, more food options, local brewers showcased, steps for the main grandstand, coupons for lesser admissions BUT, very impressed this year! The season never seems long enough.
I have to say that I also enjoyed the enduro race on the last day. Never thought I would see someone get on a track with a boat just sitting (not bolted down!) on a trailer. Was a lot of fun when those boats ended up in the middle of the track! I also enjoyed the first few races when you had a local craft brewer selling draft beer. You could possibly expand that idea and bring in some wines by the glass as well. I also appreciated the prompt notification of rain cancellations via text. I'll agree with others that having more 'special class' races (Southern Ground Pounders, etc) is a worth goal. Is there a class of car that can run faster on that short track? Maybe something that is ultra wide and low to the ground and can really pull g's in the turns? That would be fun to see!
Well mike Charlie. ..... just kidding you guys are awesome we races few places an really you treat teams better than anywhere else it sucks that the ucar class is down but trust me we learned what we learned from wcs an we now have the best handling cars I miss yall an the drivers it a great bond an I wish we could have more track operations like yall u don't get enough credit I always see a lot fans in stands not so much else where so I think you do great an thank you
The obvious revenge hits, very prevalent in the finale events, should incur stiffer penalties. I understand the drivers frustration, but its not racing and it just causes more cautions.
Continue facility improvements for fans, such as steps in the main grandstands. I'm young and dislike the climb towards the top. Great 2017 season! I always look forward to the special divisions that join on occassions (ground pounders, flathead fords, usac) and hope they are able to return in 2018.
K&N Pro Series would be nice
I agree with Mark Fletcher. Overall, you guys are doing a great job but tighten things up, stay focused & on task early in the evening so you don't have to trim laps from races later in the evening. Nobody wants to see laps trimmed. They feel like they didn't get their money's worth.
